Shootouts in the Mafia series reward thinking more than reflexes. Enemies hit hard, health is limited, and charging forward usually ends badly. The players who survive are the ones who treat every street corner and warehouse as a tactical map.
Use cover as a tool, not a hiding place
Cover is most valuable when it gives you an angle. A low wall that lets you see several approaching enemies is better than a pillar that blocks everything. Move between cover points with a plan, and know where your next safe position is before you leave the current one.
Control the angles
Narrow doorways and corridors force opponents into predictable lines. Holding an angle on those choke points lets you deal with enemies one at a time instead of facing a crowd. Flanking routes work both ways, so keep an eye on side paths that could expose you.
Patience saves health
Enemies often reposition or peek out after a few seconds. Waiting for that moment gives you a cleaner target and less return fire. Rushing to finish a fight quickly is one of the most common reasons players lose a mission late.
Manage your resources
Ammunition and healing are part of positioning too. Pick fights you can afford, collect supplies when the area is clear, and avoid wasting shots on targets that are mostly behind cover.
In the end, good positioning turns a chaotic shootout into a series of controlled exchanges, and that control is what makes these encounters so satisfying.
